Penn Jersey She Devils vs. Man’s Ruin Review

The International Sports Center rocked on October 24th 2009 when the hometown Penn Jersey She Devils hosted a game against the visiting Man’s Ruin team from Chester, NY.

This game saw the return to action of local favorites Lucky Luciano, Sloppy Jo, and Deuces Wild from injuries and rookie standout Hellanor Rollsevelt who had scheduling conflicts the past couple games. Their return was most noticeable. This was one of the best games I’ve ever witnessed in over 2 years of following the OSDA.

In a very defensive game, the PJSD’s defeated MR by a score of 59-31. The score does not reflect how close the game seemed to everyone in attendance. The blocking very hard with standout performances by PJSD’s Lucky Luciano and MR’s Tienty Deville and Tazer.

The PJSD’s are working very well on defense and offense and the pack blockers did a very good job picking off the opposing blockers to pave the way for their incoming jammers. Every team should follow their lead because it made a huge difference on the score board.

Going back to the 2008 OSDA Championships to now, Man’s Ruin has to be the most improved team in the league. It’s a real pleasure to watch them skate together as a cohesive team and their hard work is very evident.

The next date in Mt. Laurel is November 21st and will feature 3 games. The first two games will be 2-15 minute periods and the fans will select which teams skate each other. The winners of games 1 and 2 will face each other in the championship game which will consist of 4 – 15 minute periods.

Good Luck to everyone!

Penn Jersey vs. Richmond Derby Demons Review

On Saturday, September 12th, the Penn Jersey She-Devils hosted a co-ed game against the visiting Richmond Derby Demons at their home rink in Mt. Laurel, NJ, losing by one point with a final score of 59-58.

The game was the tightest match yet in Mt. Laurel and featured two closely matched teams.

My selection for MVP of the game was Mr. Mayhem from Richmond, scoring an incredible 36 points. In addition to Mr. Mayhem, Richmond came to skate with their regulars Demalisha Durga, Square Cat, Minor Threat, and RawJawBone. A recent addition to Richmond is former Hooligan – Chainsaw, who now lives in Richmond. Augmenting the team were South Jersey’s Billy Rae Siren and Man’s Ruin’s Tienty Deville along with Tazer. Also skating for Richmond were Eve L. Redhead and Rotcoddam “doc”. The latter I had never seen before and was impressed with her defensive skills.

Penn Jersey had 12 skaters on board – Classy Chassis, Miss Chievous, Wags, JD Babaganoosh, ShamPain, Cloberella, D-Machine, Shillelagh Law, Mace Kelly, Crash Money, Freudy N. Slip and Baby Skates Nelson. Wags was all over the track – blocking, jamming and pivot. It is very noticeable how he keeps looking behind to watch the approaching jammer and is often in the right place at the right time.

The action was all over the track and both teams should be very proud of their performances.

Richmond’s Durga was moved to tears. KUDOS to Richmond!

On a side note – I was very impressed with the announcing by Cello and Rhonda. Very well done.

The next game in Mt. Laurel is October 24th and will feature the Penn Jersey She-Devils vs. Man’s Ruin from Chester, NY.
